Ringhaus Bar Team celebrates 2nd place in the overall classification of GLP!
|
The season is ending soon!
Rallye Cologne-Ahrweiler and the Winter are knocking on the door:
This Saturday the last race of VLN BF Goodrich Endurance championship took place and saw again
the yellow-blue Porsche of team Land as the winner. A very impressive debut had also the brand new
BMW M Coupe of Schubert Racing with Claudia Hurtgen, Marc Hennerici, and Hans-Joachim Stuck on the
wheel. The managed to qualify the car on their first attempt already on place 3 in the grid.
Unfortunately a small mechanical problem stopped them after 3,5 race hours but according the speed
we can be very curious what the next season will bring.
In the week before we could see the last races of GLP and Castrol-Haugg-Cup. And there our Ringhaus
bar team could finish second and secured the 2nd place in the overall standings of the year. And
the best of all: Our girly crew, presented by Walle and Katharina, achieved with the 10th place the
best result of all team members on this day!!!

The Ringhaus/Mungo-Racing Golf should normally participate in the VLN race but didn't get beyond the
Friday training session. After changing turbocharger, nozzles, pump, and the mapping together with our
partners from Allard Motorcompany we were looking very optimistic forward to the race. But on Friday we
faced the fact that we lost 60hp somewhere along the way. The result was a topspeed of under 100mph uphill, so
we decided to postpone the planned VLN debut of the Golf to the next season, and started screwing and testing
again on Saturday and Sunday. And we found the missing horses!
In the Sunday public opening session a few Porsche drivers were very surprised about the performance of a
green/orange old Golf Diesel which overtook them easily ;-) Now we are in the comfortable situation that our
race car is (nearly) ready even the Winter didn't start, yet!

CHC and VLN done, Saturday again GLP and CHC!
The success story of Erik Carlsson goes on:
Our regular guests Erik Carlsson and Michael Irmgartz celebrated this weekend a 2nd place in their
class. One week before Erik Carlsson had his 1st overall win at the Castrol-Haugg-Cup with his
silver Porsche, and Michael Irmgartz won the STT championship. The guys are doing really well
in the moment.
Next weekend will be the last races of GLP and CHC and all decisions of the year will be final.
Anyway Trager/Zammert won like always the GLP championship but in the last race of
Castrol-Haugg-Cup, which will be only at the GP circuit this time, Hans-Rolf Salzer and
the guys of Pink Power Racing are battling for the overall victory. Here will decide the last
race.

The gas-driven Ford Focus of Team Bockmann had to be repaird during the night in our garage because the gas tank was
nearly ripped out of the car. While the mechanics were working in the garage, the rest of the team enjoyed food and
drinks in the bar. The team of Land Motorsport could celebrate the victory in the 9th race of the year.

Ooooops we did it again - Finisher of 'Run the Ring'!
This weekend will see the Nurburgring Classic and next weekend the VLN again:
Bike and Run the Ring was the expected challenge and exertion. With wonderful late summer weather
the bikers went out to their 24 hour race on Friday evening. Our guests from Northern Germany, who
drove the Ring for the very first time, finished on the 19th place overall! Respect and
congratulation for 31 laps in 24 hours.
On Sunday morning it was high time for us: The Ringhaus Running Team went to the starting grid.
The runner on the left side was unbeatable, but how the photo proves, he was flying the
distance. ;-) Thanks to Jochen Kaus for this snapshot of 'flying Deodatus Boneventura', who
needed much less than 1.5 hours for the 24.4km through Green Hell.
After more or less the same time again, also for us came the redeeming last step on the finish line
at the GP track. Not quite as fit as before the start but without anyone missing the Ringhaus team
was arranged for the 'Finisher photo'. Thanks to Bjorn Koch for the 'before & after' photos.
Next weekend there finally will be the sound of engines again, when the 'Nurburgring-Classic'
will be started and in the very next week when the final phase of VLN BF Goodrich
Endurance Championship is going to begin.

Mungo/Ringhaus-Golf in new design finished his first race,
now we are all looking forward to the biggest challenge ... Bike & Run the Ring:
We finally got it done to bring the Mungo/Ringhaus-Golf to the starting grid. After working only
for and in the Ringhaus during the last 2 years, it was a great pleasure and satisfaction to
compete in a race again.
Huge compliment to Olli(versal), who managed to paint, prepare, and adjust the Golf that we were
able to decrease out fastest laptimes from 2004 for over 30 seconds!
Now it's the time for all real Ringers to go onto their last trainings sessions because 15th-17th
of September we will have 'Bike and Run the Ring'. Latest than all participants will realise why
Nordschleife is called the 'Green Hell'.

Next week again VLN and than the Mungo-Golf will have his roll-out in Ringhaus colours:
During the Oldtimer Grand Prix and DTM the drivers let the 'cow fly'. See further down a few
photos concerning this ;-)
The coming weekend will be again a race of the VLN BF Goodrich Endurance Championship,
where Marc Hennerici, with whom we are organising the Playstation GT4 Trophy, is leading the
championship together with teammate Claudia Hürtgen. With what we are very happy!
This time it will be especially exciting because it is the 6 hour race which is the longest race
of the season.

In the very next week the Mungo-Racing Golf TDI will finally have his first race of the season.
Mungo-Racing and Ringhaus owner Frank will compete together with Lloyd Allard (who is leading the
British VW-Cup) in the Castrol-Haugg-Cup. It will be the first time in corporate colours
GREEN/ORANGE.

LMES, Truck GP, Renault World Series, VLN, GLP and CHC were during the last weeks but now it comes even
bigger with the Oldtimer GP and the German Touring Car Masters (DTM):
The LMES 1000km race and the Truck Grand Prix have been huge public events, especially because
the 'Eifelian' Summer offered an extra portion sun this time. Beneath this we saw a race of the
VLN endurance championship and even 2 races of the Castrol-Haugg-Cup and the GLP. Our Ringhaus
'bar team' could realise it's first overall win in the team competition but came back to earth in
this weekends competition by finishing in 4th place only.
A similiar experience had our young Russian friend Mikhail Aleshin, who is also looking back to this
race weekend with an ambivalent feeling: On Saturday he reached his first pole position in
qualifying and finished 3rd in the race. On Sunday he had a tyre puncture in the first lap, catched
up again, ploughing through the whole field, and saw the checkered flag as leader, but got a 60 sec.
penalty for not doing the mandatory pitstop, which send him back to place 21. That's racing!

24h, Oldtimer, IDM done - Saturday VLN and First-Aid course with N-GmbH:
The 24hrs race, DAMC Oldtimer Festival and International German Motorbike Championship have been
during the last 3 weeks and we had not even enough time to update our website. Congratualtion to
Manthey-Racing! They managed to finish first in the 24hrs race 2006 after 25 years of trying of
teamchef Olaf Manthey.
After all this major events we will have a very important and serious topic this weekend: First Aid
in case of emergency!
Thanks to the initiative of active Ringers of the German 'Touristenfahrer-Forum' and friendly
support from 'Nuerburgring GmbH' we will host a first aid course with many practical exercises
this Saturday after the VLN race. We are very happy that beneath the German Ringers also many many
enthusiasts from the Netherlands and U.K. want to participate.
Information can be found here: Touristenfahrer Forum Thread

On Saturday there will be also the next race of the VLN endurance championship and we are very curious which of the crashed
cars from the 24hrs race will be back in the grid. In the very next it's already time for this year's Truck GP. So take out
your cowboy hats ... it's again 'country&western' time ;-)

The Ringhaus GLP team, which contains guests and Walle, finished again 2nd and was able to manifest
the 2nd place in the championship.

After retirement of the workscars from BMW and Opel, which won the race during the last 3 years, we are all
looking forward to a very exciting race this year because there is no clear favorite this time. And
the weather forecast says: 30 degrees and NO rain!
Time for the party of the year!

Beneath all this nice news we also have to tell something horrible: On this Sunday with wonderful weather, where
Nordschleife should have been open the whole day for the public, two bikers lost their lives under tragic circumstances.
Our deep compassion is with their families!!!

The Mercedes F1 boys were back at 'Altes Forsthaus'!
After over 50 years again a Mercedes formula 1 team stayed at Altes Forsthaus during the
Nurburgring GP. The high performance engine crew honoured us by staying within our historical
walls and they definitely enjoyed it. Anyway Schumi won the race but this didn't spoil our
satisfaction because the F1 world championship is thrilling again like long time ago.
Beneath the big F1 event we introduced a few new things in the Ringhaus: Fresh homemade cakes!
In the future we will regularly have a buffet of freshly made cakes. The feedback on this weekend
was: "Surly the best cake in town, good like my Grandma's".
The Retro-Beetle on the photo is also not staying in front of our door by accident: We agreed a
cooperation with the organisers of the funcup. During this years 24h-race will be a presentation
of the funcup racing series and together with us we are organising a surprise for all motorsport
fans during the Wednesday corso on Nordschleife.
More information on the funcup is available under: Fun-Cup

Easter was a big happening! Saturday 2nd race of VLN!
On Saturday VLN BFGoodrich Endurance championship will go into 2nd round. After the

After last race's victory of Manthey Racing the other top teams are definitely looking for revenge!

Victory for Manthey Racing in 1st VLN race and now it's Easter time:
The first race of BFGoodrich Endurance championship was a real thrill. We could witness a few
tragedies and at last a happy end for Manthey Racing. They had a tyre problem in the very last
lap but managed somehow to carry their wounded Porsche through Green hell to finish first. In
contrary to Team Schall who were trying to catch them and another car crashed into their
backside in this last lap.
One of the tragedies was definitely also the burned out car of Bit-Racing. The guys were in
such a good condition, had a super performance, and the fans loved their orange/black M3 until
the fire ended its life. Hopefully they will come back, soon!

To Easter we have a small present for all Nordschleife friends:
|
On Sunday we had the traditional season opening of the bikers with the "Anlassen" church service. It was so crowded that
it took more than half an hour to get all bikers onto Nordschleife.
But than the prayers were heard and heaven opened its gates, to present a wonderful Sunday afternoon for tourist drives
at Nordschleife! Maybe "God is a biker"??? ;-)

And off we go!!! The 1st race of VLN 2006 will be started on Saturday:
The Formula Renault tested the whole week on the GP circuit and will pack all their
things Thursday evening. Because on Friday afternoon we will have the 1st Friday's training
session of BFGoodrich Endurance Championship and on Saturday the 1st race of the season.
On Wednesday we had wonderful sunshine togehter with snow and Thursday morning the Formula
Renault teams were not able to do training because of 'icy track'!!! but the afternoon sun
warmed up the circuit, and we are expecting to have a great VLN race this weekend.

Olli and Walle grabbed the chance to have a close look into the professional motorsport business at team Carlin from
England. And the Ringhaus boss couldn't resist to convince one of the drivers to go out onto Nordschleife for a few laps
with the Ringhaus Golf TDI.
We expirienced a few 'light bulb moments' as the promising junior driver Michail Aleshin took the steering wheel, e.g.
"to cut the Schwedenkreuz curbs at full speed without being dead or in hospital afterwards" or "to be quick at Hatzenbach
on 2 wheels with massiv oversteering".
BUT PLEASE dear tourist drivers:
Never try do something like this because the guy made the 2nd place in the Russian touring car championship 5 years ago
... in the age of 13!!! Now he is 18, and has already 13 years of motorsport experience, and his father is operating
a cart track ... mmmhhh doesn't it sound familiar somehow?

Saturday the first race of the season 2006 will be started:
After the first race of the VLN BF Goodrich endurance championship had to be cancelled
last Saturday because of still too much snow around the track, this Saturday the first race
2006 on our beloved Nordschleife will be started. It will be a race of the Castrol-Haugg-Cup (CHC),
the oldest racing series in Germany.
The whole last week we had nice Spring time weather with temperatures above 10 degrees and even
the very last snow vanished (hopefully) finally for this year.
The CHC will start at 8 o'clock in the morning with test- and adjustment training and at 1 o'clock
the race will be started.
More information on this topic is available under:
Castrol-Haugg-Cup

After the race will be finished, Nordschleife will be again open for public from 5:30 to 7:30, the same like on Sunday,
for the whole day from 8 o'clock until 7:30 in the evening. And there is another special on Saturday and Sunday the
GP track is also open from 9 to 6 for tourist drives.
Our two cars had some small problems after the RTS trackday and the test drives and will be not in the starting grid on
Saturday. The Polo will get a new engine and the Golf a new brake. 'Olliversal' is studying hard in the moment because
he will have his first exam, soon. And this has the highest priority in the moment!

THE SEASON HAS STARTED !!!
The long time of suffering is over. Finally the season started this Friday with an RTS track day
on the Nordschleife which was used by many teams to test their cars for the coming races.
With temperatures around the freezing point and still a lot of snow around the track it was like
dancing on raw eggs and we could see many small damages (including our own Golf) but nothing
serious happend.
Even a few Porsches from the U.K. (the lady is from us ;-)already found their way to Nordschleife
and it was a very nice event for all participants.

Check out the photos on Oliver Wegen's site:
RTS Track Day Photos by Oliver Wegen
By the way: Our fast lady got the last tips from Sabine who was testing with her new Porsche 997
before she jumped into the Golf and the Polo. So the Ringhaus' ladies team is already in the
starting grid for the season.
The snow is melting and Nordschleife is open!
Today the VLN BF Goodrich Endurance Championship has it's official test day and on Sunday
Nordschleife will be open for public!

The Winter brought a few events which where not yet
on our calendar!
The elephants among the bikers are coming again to the Ring in the grim Winter to celebrate
their old rituals like in the 'good old times'. And some of those irreformable side car pilots
prefer already the comfort of the Ringhaus.
So we welcomed the pachyderms and cleared the garage from our race cars to provide asylum for
them.
More information on this topic is available under:
Old Elephants Meeting
But apropros race cars: Good news from the mechanics!
Our street legal Golf is ready to run. Olli, David, and both Thomas' spend their last weekends
in the garage and completed the 'Golf-puzzle'. And with the second Golf TDI for the endurance
championship Olli is becoming serious: Light weight wherever it's possible! The body scratched to
the blank metal, makrolon windows, carbon fibre hoods and wings, etc. The 1000kg limit should be reached,
soon.
Winter fun in the Ringhaus
Beneath our 'regular' 40th birthday parties we had in February the celebration of a 13th birthday
with a lot of 'Sun and Fun' in the snow. We had sledging, 'snow football', hill climbing in the
local mountains, and a scavenger hunt on the programme.
But now the Winter can slowly give up and go away because on the 11th of March the
first test- and adjustment track day of Blau-Gelb Essen is planned and we want to participate.

GT4 Trophy shakes winterly Eifel out of hibernation!
Nothing to do in Winter at the Ring? As if!
The GT4 Trophy created a traffic jam on Hauptstrasse in Nurburg on this quiet Winter weekend.
And it was quite difficult to find some parking around the Ringhaus "Altes Forsthaus - St. Hubertus".
The race organised by privateers touringcar world champion Marc Hennerici for the 2006 GT4 Trophy
was even a bigger success than last year. Beneath the Eifel local heroes there were this time a couple
of real racing and virtual racing experts and professionals on the starting grid. These guys lifted the
benchmark for all other competitors very high. The skill level in the finale was that high that even
organiser, last year's winner, touringcar champion, and Ring expert Marc Hennerici was chanceless.
This year's winner was the Team Adrian Sutil /Oliver "fastyfast" Schaetzmueller
with a clear lead over the other teams. In this finale the drivers realised lap times under 6:00 minutes on
the virtual Nordschleife with Camaros (!!!!!)
It was clear from the beginning that these guys know what they are doing, if you just take a look at their c.v.'s:
Adrian Sutil finished 2005 2nd in the Formula 3 Euroseries with his Dallara/Mercedes and also represents the German
colours in the A1 series. Oliver "fastyfast" Schaetzmueller is already something like a legend on the Playstation.
The local 'Eifelian' participated the last 2 years in the finale of the virtual Rallye world championship.
The best photos to this event were like always made by Oliver Wegen and Mike Frison. The pics and further
comments are available here:

With Mike, the owner of Renn.TV we also made a deal at this weekend: His DVDs, which have already cult status
(Uwe Alzen's record lap during VLN with 'Turbinchen', the twin turbo Porsche alien, and the VLN race of the Land Porsche
inluding his jump over the barriers) are now available here at the Ringhaus!
